We have recently returned to Harker House Care Home in Long Stratton, the location for our latest project. Following the completion of a bedroom refurbishment project last summer, we have been appointed by the client to undertake improvement works to both the main Dining Room and the Dementia Care Unit (DCU) Dining/Sitting Room.
The main Dining Room element of the project will involve a complete refurbishment. This will include the creation of a small resident’s kitchenette and the installation of new windows. The works to the Dining/Sitting Room in the DCU will include the installation of an external door set and the refurbishment of the kitchenette.
When working in an environment which is constantly in use, significant attention must be given to health and safety procedures ensuring that general access to the area is restricted. At the same time, temporary dining areas have been created throughout the home for the residents to use, while the works are in progress.
Our work has started in the main dining room, where we have stripped out the original doors, lights, flooring, skirtings and kitchenette. We are getting on well with the refurbishment works, ahead of the build of the new kitchenette. This will continue over the coming weeks, before we move onto the DCU.
