We recently completed a project at Avenue Junior School, which involved refurbishing their main school office.  We were asked to help provide an accessible reception hatch, increased storage and a kitchen facility.

The project commenced with the removal and disconnections work.  We removed furniture, fixtures and fittings, and floor coverings, while our electrical colleagues temporarily disconnected all the electrical fittings.

We then moved onto the refurbishment and started work on reception hatch.  Firstly, we had to remove the existing glazed sliding system. We then installed the new dual level hatch, complete with new glazing featuring speak holes, security locks and recessed handles. However, to accommodate the new hatch we had to modify the internal wall by making good some of the brickwork. We then installed and commissioned a new roller shutter door once everything was in place.

Our plumbing colleagues installed pipework to feed a new sink and a new electric water heater. Meanwhile, our electrical colleagues installed new wiring to feed the water heater and a fridge unit. They also installed the power supply for the roller shutter door, a new heater, as well as a hearing induction loop system

To complete the refurbishment, we painted the office walls in neutral tones and the office door bright blue. We also laid new vinyl safety flooring.  We supplied and installed two new desks and chairs for the office area and fitted a modest kitchen, featuring sink, fridge and cupboard space, along one wall.
