We were appointed as principal contractor to remodel elements of the Specialist Resource Base at Sprowston Infant School. The Specialist Resource Base comprises of a classroom and multipurpose room, and has an adjoining outside area.
The internal elements of the project focused on improving the functionality of the space. Firstly, we installed a double timber door set between the two rooms. We then relocated the kitchen point, which was previously located where the new door was installed. We improved acoustics by installing new ceiling mounted tiles and wall panels to both rooms. Finally, we re-routed heating pipework and electrical services, and finished the multipurpose room with new carpet tiles.
Outside, the remit was to improve safety, as well as make the area more functional and aesthetically pleasing. Once we had cleared the area of the existing fence, gates and gravelled areas, we erected a new 1.8m high fence around the perimeter of the space. We then installed a new lockable pedestrian gate and then finished the area by laying Astroturf, providing a safe and attractive area for the pupils to play.
