We recently undertook a project at Avenue Junior School to refurbish their main school office. The project involved providing an accessible reception hatch, increased storage and a kitchen facility.
Our team arrived onsite to commence the removal and disconnections work. This involved removing furniture, fixtures and fittings, as well as the floor coverings. Meanwhile, our electrical colleagues temporarily disconnected all the electrical fittings within the work area.
The next step was to commence work on the reception hatch. Firstly, this involved us removing the existing glazed sliding system. To accommodate the new hatch, we had to modify the internal wall by making good some of the brickwork. We then installed the new dual level hatch, complete with new glazing featuring speak holes, security locks and recessed handles. Once this was in place, we installed and commissioned a new roller shutter door.
We painted the office walls in neutral tones and the office door in bright blue. In addition, we laid new vinyl safety flooring. We supplied and installed two new desks and chairs for the office area and fitted a modest kitchen, featuring sink, fridge and cupboard space, along one wall.
Then we handed over to our plumbing colleagues who installed pipework to feed the new sink and a new electric water heater. Our electrical colleagues completed the refurbishment by installing new wiring to feed the water heater and fridge unit. They also installed the power supply for the roller shutter door, a new heater, as well as a hearing induction loop system.
