Good news! We’ve finished the bedroom conversion project at Ellacombe Residential Care Home that we were working on before Christmas. The team arrived back at the site in November and started work on converting two bedrooms into rooms with ensuite facilities.
We ran the works in both bedrooms in parallel, which required careful coordination of labour and resources. In both cases, we knocked two adjoining bedrooms into one, creating additional space for the ensuite bathrooms. We then spent time digging out new drainage to supply the bathrooms. The team then fitted the ensuites with new bathroom suites, flooring and pocket door systems. Showers, screens, grab rails and new lighting finished the bathrooms. In the bedroom areas, the team refurbished walls, installed new doors and flooring, and painted throughout.
Both bedrooms are located in the same wing on the ground floor of the care home. This allowed us to cordon off access to the construction area, providing a safe working environment for the Base team, while allowing the care home to operate as normal.
The rooms have now been signed off and are ready for letting to incoming residents. Meanwhile, we’ve moved onto a new bedroom and bathroom project in another area of the care home!
